Bring More Wallet
While the motorcycle trip has been fun, the miles (~4,500 so far) has led to some needed maintenance for Blue Lightening. Today I had that maintenance work done at Sturgis Motorsports in Sturgis, SD. New tires front and back, engine oil and filter change, replacing air filter, replacing oil in rear gearbox, and checking the drive shaft in accordance. The latter is under a recall notice but the rest is about $1,400 dollars out of pocket (BMW = Bring More Wallet)! Not bad though considering I’ve put over 10,000 miles on her since last September.
In addition to motorcycle maintenance, today also included lining up some preventative maintenance for myself. I’ve scheduled the following vaccinations in preparation for my international travels – typhoid, Japanese encephalitis, meningococcal meningitis, hepatitis, and yellow fever. Also picking up antimalaria medications and travelers diarrhea meds. Should be a veritable cocktail of drugs swimming around inside of me by the time I’m on the plane. Given the schedule for those vaccinations though, my motorcycle trip will be interrupted early (at least temporarily).
Nothing too exciting to see today so no new pictures. Unless you want to see me crying while I pay the motorcycle bill.
