And We’re Off

And the adventure begins!  Day one of being officially homeless and on the road.  My good friend (Bill) and I loaded up the motorcycles and headed east from Seattle, Washington.  The plan was to head over Chinook Pass first thing in the morning but it was just a bit chilly overnight (18 degrees).  We wisely decided to head over Snoqualmie Pass instead (46 degrees as we crossed).

Blue Lightening loaded with everything (?) needed for 6-8 weeks on the road.

Great riding all day – good weather, good company, and minimal traffic.  Interstate to Vantage, Washington and then back roads to Clarkston, Washington.  A total of 314 miles today.  A couple of interesting stops along the way include a stop a Palouse Falls and a visit to the Eastern Washington Agricultural Museum in Pataha, Washington.

Palouse Falls at the Palouse Falls State Park. Falls fall 200 feet.

A few birds were sighted while at Palouse Falls including a new one for me – white-throated swift.  Others were turkey vultures, Bullock’s oriole, American goldfinch, great blue heron, crows, and a myriad array of little brown birds.

And, it’s a new month so… it’s time to start collecting license plates. Today’s plates spotted included Washington, Idaho, Florida, Tennessee, Montana, California, Hawaii, South Dakota, Illinois, Indiana, Oregon, Alabama, Texas, Wyoming, Arizona, Kansas, Ohio, and, from our Canadian neighbors, Alberta.
